As the year 2023 came to a close, theme park enthusiasts across Europe engaged with their favorite parks through mobile applications. Data from Sensor Tower offers a glimpse into the performance of the top five theme park apps on the iOS platform during the fourth quarter.
Disneyland® Paris saw a noticeable trend in both downloads and weekly active users. Downloads started at roughly 35K in the last week of September, dipped to around 25K in early November, and then surged to over 42K during the festive week of December 25. Weekly active users peaked at approximately 71K in early October, before falling to around 59K in late November, and then rebounded to nearly 79K by year's end.
Next, Europa-Park & Rulantica presented a mixed picture. While the app's revenue remained modest, fluctuating between $2 and $4 throughout the quarter, downloads saw a significant drop from 16K in early October to a low of around 3K in mid-November, before a rise to approximately 9.6K during the Christmas week. The weekly active users mirrored this pattern, starting at around 18K, dropping to 6K, and then climbing back up to nearly 12K by December 25.
Alton Towers Resort — Official experienced a varied trend in app downloads, with an initial spike to over 15K in late October, a sharp decrease to a few hundred in November, and then a slight increase to over 700 by Christmas. Weekly active users started strong at around 26K, decreased to 12K in late November, but saw a rise to approximately 18K by the end of December.
Port Aventura saw its downloads fluctuate, with a high of over 7K in early October, a dip to under 2K in late November, and another rise to over 5K during the holiday season. The weekly active users for the app followed a similar trend, peaking at around 14K in early October, falling to about 4.4K in mid-December, and then rebounding to nearly 7.8K by year's end.
Lastly, Phantasialand showed a general decline in downloads from 4.1K in late September to around 1.2K in early November, with a recovery to over 5.5K in the last week of December. The app's weekly active users started at approximately 7.3K, dropped to just over 3.2K, and ended the quarter with a modest increase to about 7.5K.
